Biblical Faith

The Bible is a source of wisdom, insight, and knowledge for us to draw from. It’s filled with stories of faith, courage, and perseverance. But what exactly does the Bible say about faith and what it is and is not?

The Bible teaches us that faith is not a blind leap into the unknown. Instead, it’s a confident assurance in God and His promises. In Hebrews 11:1, the Bible says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” This verse shows us that faith is not about having an unfounded hope or belief, but rather it’s an assurance that comes from knowing God and trusting in Him.

The Bible also teaches us that faith is not a magic wand that will make our problems disappear. Instead, faith is a tool that helps us endure trials and tribulations. In James 1:2-4, the Bible says, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” This passage shows us that faith helps us to remain steadfast and strong in difficult times.

The Bible also teaches us that faith is not a substitute for good works. In James 2:17, the Bible says, “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” This verse reminds us that faith without works is no faith at all. We must back up our faith with action and good works if we want it to be effective.

The Bible teaches us that faith is not a one-time decision, but rather a lifelong journey. In Philippians 1:6, the Bible says, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” This verse reminds us that faith is not a onetime commitment, but a lifelong process of trusting and obeying God.

The Bible has a lot to say about faith and what it is and is not. Faith is not a blind leap into the unknown, a magic wand that will make our problems disappear, or a substitute for good works. Rather, faith is an assurance in God and His promises, a tool that helps us endure trials, and a lifelong journey of trusting and obeying Him.

Hebrews chapter 11:3 begins “By faith we understand that the worlds we're framed by the Word of God… By faith we understand. This kind of Faith reveals Truth. More than just a belief or a hope or a wish, this kind of Biblical Faith brings understanding.

This kind of faith has its beginning in God.

"By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, so that no one may boast."(Eph. 2:8,9)

Grace paved the way for faith to reveal the one true God. Grace is the gift from God that brought awakening to our dead sinful nature. In faith believing we surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
