FOR MEN ONLY!
Being a Man of God: Leading Your Family in Christ
As men of God, we are called to be spiritual leaders in our homes. This is not about dominance or control—it’s about love, service, and leading by example, just as Christ leads the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Our families need us to be strong in faith, unwavering in truth, and committed to guiding them toward Jesus.
1. Lead by Example
Your actions will always speak louder than your words. Read the Word daily, pray fervently, and walk in obedience to God. Let your family see your faith in action—not just on Sundays, but in every moment of life. At the beginning of this year I challenged the men in our church family to read at least two chapters of scripture a day. The idea is to create a reading habit not create and unbreakable law. You may forget to read one day or start and only finish a few verses. Keep working to develop a habit of reading the Word of God. Demonstrate the high value of God’s Word in your daily life so that all the family can learn by your example..
2. Prioritize Prayer & Worship
Be a man of prayer. Pray with and for your family—over meals, before bed, and in times of need. Encourage worship in your home, whether through music, scripture reading, or open discussions about faith. Teach your family to pray first in all things.
3. Teach and Train in the Word
God commands us to teach our children His ways (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). Make Bible study a part of your family's routine. Guide your children in understanding the Gospel, and help them apply it in their daily lives. Help them find the answers to questions of faith posed by their friends, instructors, and the world around them. I am a recent fan of www.wesleyhuff.com as a resource for Christian apologetics. Wes recently did a podcast with Joe Rogan and he is a great source for helping young people. better understand the authenticity of the scriptures.
4. Love and Serve Like Christ
Jesus was a servant leader (Mark 10:45). Show your wife and children love through service, humility, and kindness. Model forgiveness and grace, teaching them how to extend the same to others. I practice making things right in the family. If I was rude to my wife and the children were present, I do not just apologize to my wife, I also apologize to my children for not being a good example. None of us are perfect. We all need forgiveness from God and from one another.
5. Stand Firm in Faith
The world will try to pull your family away from God, but you must be the rock that stands firm. Protect your home from ungodly influences and encourage biblical values. Lead with wisdom and courage, knowing that your strength comes from the Lord. Guard the gates of your home do not be afraid to make a strong Godly stand for your family!
6. Stay Accountable
Surround yourself with godly men who will challenge and encourage you in your walk with Christ. Seek wisdom from mentors, pastors, and fellow believers who can sharpen your faith (Proverbs 27:17). We need each other.
Being a man of God is not about perfection—it’s about pursuit. Pursuing Christ daily and pointing your family toward Him. When you lead with love, faith, and integrity, you create a legacy that will impact generations to come.
"…But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." – Joshua 24:15
Let’s rise up as men of God and lead our families in the way of Jesus. The world needs more godly fathers, husbands, and leaders. Will you answer the call?
