DOCTRINES OF DEMONS

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods,
— I Timothy 4:1-3

We are at war! It is something we too often forget. Many a Christian soldier has walked out in the world without the spiritual armor God has provided and suffered injury and in some instances has been taken captive by the god of this world. Neglecting the imperatives of our Christian walk always leads to needless suffering and puts us at risk. Biblical literacy, effective prayer and authentic worship are a part of the daily walk of the believer. Jesus taught us that there would be constant conflict between the World and the true Church.

In many places, Scripture warns us against false doctrine. One such place is 1 Timothy 4:1: “The Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons” (NASB). The KJV words it as “seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” We are at risk to be suduced by these false doctrines when we are adrift spiritually. The devils favorite method has been to use satanic councils against the Church. He uses opinion, the courts, philosophy, education and even religion to hinder the work of God’s Church and discredit its members.

The war is raging. The good news is that Jesus is the head of the Church. The world will not overpower the Church!

HOW CAN WE KNOW TRUTH FROM FICTION?

Fix your eyes on Jesus, He is leading the way to victory. We are not deceived when we know Jesus through His Word, in our worship and in our obedience to Him. The devil introduced doctrines of demons to Jesus in the temptation of Christ in Matthew 4. Jesus knew the truth and was the truth so the devils doctrines failed miserably.

Do not rely on someone else’s faith in substitution for your own
— Pastor Alan Kirkpatrick

If we will spend time with Jesus daily we will not be deceived by doctrines of demons because we too will know the truth. I want to take a moment to speak into each readers life personally with this warning: “Do not rely on someone else’s faith in substitution for your own.”

Some men who are not leading their homes spiritually rely on their wives faith to understand God. Many people rely on their parents or grandparents faith. We must have a personal relationship with God through Christ. We must do our own work to grow and develop as a mature believer.
