FRIENDS

Why did God put us here on earth? We only live here a short time in comparison with eternity so why are we here?

Not your current location but this planet taking up space and breathing oxygen. Why did God not just take us to heaven when He created us

A great deal of energy is expended everyday by people who are trying to discover their Purpose in life!  Do you know why you are here? Why were you not born in 1492 when Columbus sailed the ocean blue or Why not 1800's where you could head West with the settlers who were seeking gold and a new life?

Are you the least bit curious? Perhaps you have settled the question by accepting a belief that we are just a random collection of atoms and chemicals. Something from a primordial stew that came together at the precise moment and your genetic code was aligned to happen by pure chance in this decade, this century this part of the timeline of humanity.

If that's true have you wondered why you long for relationship or have dreams of better things improving life. It would seem a random set of coded DNA would be mostly satisfied with base needs: food, clothing, shelter and not consider loftier ideas.

Here is what the Bible says...

“...for everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him.” Colossians 1:16 Message

An honest appraisal of your life on earth tells you there is something more to you than simple existence. It's also clear that we were not meant to do life alone. We need each other.

Friendship is a key part of life. Yet we struggle in our life to make new friends. Why is that?

FRIENDSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

-Honesty and Transparency

-Faithfulness and Time

-Above all it requires LOVE.

We struggle to develop new friendships because it is work, commitment and it ultimately is costly. From the beginning God intended us to live together to share life with one another.

Did you know that fifty-eight times in the New Testament the word “one another” is used? Love one another, care for one another, pray for one another, exhort one another, encourage one another, greet one another, and on and on and on. God wants you to care for other people. That’s called fellowship. Enjoying God’s family is called fellowship, and that’s the second purpose for your life. (Rick Warren “Purpose Driven Life”)

One of the primary purposes of our life on earth is to learn how to Love! Love God and Love people. Here is a question:

Do you have a strategy in place for making new friends?

If you have to think about that for more than a few seconds you will want to join us for the next 8 week series on "FRIENDSHIP" at the Grace Place. You may be saying "I have plenty of friends why do I need more?" We will tell you that and much more in the opening messages on "Love where you Live".
