BECAUSE I SAID SO!

Do you ever feel like everyone is your boss? Have you had a moment or two in life where you felt like NO one was your boss?

God places a high value on authority because He is the one who created it.

The Bible says that all authority comes from and originates with God. He is the absolute source of authority in the universe, and has delegated His principle of authority to mankind to maintain order in the world.

13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.” (Rom. 13:1-2).

PARENTAL AUTHORITY:

The very first kind of authority we come in contact with when we are born is our parents.

6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” (Eph. 6:1-3)

When you were born you didn’t come with a manual so your parents had discover who you were: personality, your leaning mode, you likes and dislikes in food and drink.

Some things you liked surprised them. My parents thought I would hate spinach but they fed it to me anyway and I loved it! At 6 years old I could polish off a full can all by myself. Just call me Popeye!

Something you don’t like surprised your parents. Amanda has a close friend who does not like chocolate. What? Not possible.

You were very expensive!

It will cost an estimated $241,080 for a middle-income couple to raise a child born last year for 18 years, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture report released in 2013. That's up almost 3% from 2011 and doesn't even include the cost of college.

Given what you cost your parents, respect for them should be a given. Right?

The problem is sin! Parents are not perfect and children are born with sin on their minds.

If you don’t believe that let me encourage an experiment: put two toddlers in a room with one toy. It won’t take long.

For I was born a sinner--yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. (Ps. 51:5 Living Bible)

Our attitude toward Christ as our Lord, is directly associated with our attitude toward other authority.
