A Long Hot Summer
Grace Place Church is a welcoming church filled with people who Love God and one another. You will feel at home from the moment you step onto the campus. From all the GPC family we would love to invite you to join us for Worship service Sundays 10:30AM CST.
Wanted to share this poem with you. It was inspired by another trip around the sun (birthday) and observations about our current time circumstances. No matter what is going on around us it is what we have within us that sustains us. “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (I Jn. 4:4) I am not discouraged as I look around. In fact, just he opposite. If you look closely you will see the signs of revival everywhere. God has finished His redemptive work in time, so that we can focus our eyes on eternity.
Its been a long hot summer
the kind of which causes the heart to yearn for milder climate
This long hot summer is a heated reminder of our hot tempered world
no room for reason, no harbor for truth
Our refuge used to be our homes
they have now become our prisons
Social media has caused us to know each other to well
we yearn too, for the days of ignorance
those wonderful days when we thought we knew each other best
Now, our eyes look for greener pastures
a place, and people where we can reside at peace
A place, where the summer is more bearable and the winters not too harsh
a place, where the people are mild, friendly and neighborly
Its been a long hot summer, the winds of change have been stilled
If you listen quietly, you can hear the stirring of impatience
This cannot stand forever, summers are but one season
the season of change is next on stage
The cool winds will rustle the leaves and disturb the best laid plans
The changing seasons remind us we are short term visitors
what we build, the earth reclaims
The one who made the seasons will see them through to the end
We were not made for time
that is why we yearn for greener pastures each long hot summer
We were made for eternity
and no home, in time, will ever meet that measure
True, it has been a long hot summer
but summers will end when eternity begins
You are not home here and that is a good thing
