Are you missing Christmas this year?

Are you missing Christmas this year?

Last weekend we talked about 3 ways we can miss Christmas: Business, Familiarity and Fear.

The Inn Keeper 2000 years ago was so busy with his Business that he missed Christmas even as it happened next door.

The religious leaders of the day that Jesus was born knew where He would be born and they told Herod but they did not make the five-mile journey to see for themselves. Though the wise men had traveled a great distance to see Jesus the religious men could not travel a short distance.

Herod’s fear of Christmas drove him to murder the young Jewish baby boys 2 years and under. Fear can prevent us from Christmas as well: Fear we will lose out on FUN, Fear we may turn into a FANATIC, Fear we may lose our FREEDOM.

How can we assure that we will not miss Christmas?

DON’T MISS CHRISTMAS . . .

STOP!
“Christ carried the burden of our sins on the cross so that we could

STOP living for sin and START living for what is right. His wounds heal us.”

LOOK!

“ Let all theworldLOOK  tomefor salvation! For I am God and there is no other!” (1 Peter 2:24 NCV)

“Reverence for God adds hours to each day!” Psalm 46:10

LISTEN!

“LISTEN to what God says:

THIS is the hour to receive God’s favor! TODAY is the day to be saved!” 2 Corinthians 6:2

Are you too busy with your Business?

Are you too familiar with the story?

Are you Fearful to cross the line from follower of Jesus to Disciple of Jesus?

Can I pray for you?

Father in heaven we thank you for the gift of your Son. In the midst of darkness you sent the light. We don’t want to miss out on the significance of Christmas. Help us to STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN. We invite you into our circumstances and ask you to lead us as we surrender to your will for our lives. Thank you Jesus.
