Several months ago, God laid this convocation on my heart. He told me this is how I want you to start off this year’s GODtalks series: A call of His people to repentance, to be sanctified by the Holy Spirit for the work of the Lord that is ahead of us.
Convocation: A large formal assembly of People.
This is a solemn assembly called for a season of fasting, prayer, reading of the scriptures, and repentance. The purpose of it is to turn our hearts back to God. Our nation is polluted with sin. It is difficult to watch the daily news as it appears evil is winning in government, education, corporate America, and in so many homes and lives around us.
The body of Christ is the Church. We are called to make a bold stand for God in this hour.
“Seek Good, and not evil that you may live and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you…Hate evil, and love good and establish justice in the gate.
(Amos 5:14-15)
When the world loses its moral compass, it is the Church of Jesus that arises to light the way!
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
(Matt. 5:14)
So many people are fearful as they see the darkness enveloping our world. The Church is a beacon of light that points to the cross of Christ and the empty tomb.
The gospel message declares,
“Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
(Jn. 3:16)
As Christians we hold the key to the Hope of the entire world. I believe God is calling us as a church to “seek the lost” (Lk. 19:10) to take ALL the Gospel to ALL the people. First, we need to become a people of the Spirit. We must humble ourselves before the Lord, repent, confess, be clean and renewed and filled with the Holy Spirit. We cannot do this great work without the Spirit of God. We need His anointing (Acts 10:38), we need His Power (Acts 1:8), we need His intercession in prayer through us to the Father (Acts 2:4), We need His guidance in all Truth, His Authority so we can break the chains of darkness over the people of our world (Jn. 16:13)
This manual is a guide for our Convocation. The invitation to participate comes through me but from the Lord. If you answer this call of God upon your life, you will exit this convocation a completely different person than you entered (I Samuel 10:6). As a church we will see the power of the gospel impact on our community! We will personally experience the revival God longs to rain down upon His church and we will reach the lost around us with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With all my heart I want to encourage you to say “YES” to full participation (body, mind, and spirit) in this convocation and to welcome the change God desires to bring to each of our hearts.
