Priorities

Every fall, as our children return to school, our family has a new beginning. One year older, one grade higher, one step closer to graduation. It is a time for all parents to evaluate our priorities. God Talks at GPC is a call for us to put God First again in our lives. Hear the stories from GPC members of what happened when they invited Jesus to be Lord in their lives.

WATCH HERE FOR ALL LIVE EVENTS THIS WEEK:

LORD, I repent!

5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:5-8)

I repent of all my sins and surrender to Your Lordship in my life

  • Unbelief and rebellion

  • Sexual immorality

  • Hatred

  • Gossip causes division among my brothers and sisters in Christ

  • Idolatry (looking to other sources for what you alone provide)

  • For entertaining evil and perverse thoughts rather than casting them down and exalting you.

  • For lying and embracing anything that is not the truth

  • Opening my life to the occult in looking for supernatural encounters in any way other than you have provided through your Holy Spirit.

  • Disobedience and neglecting your Words for my life

  • For living in Fear and using my fears as an excuse not to engage in the mission you gave me.

  • For my unfaithfulness to the body of Christ: in gathering for worship services, serving one another, giving to support the mission, and sharing my testimony with the world around me.

GOAL & OBJECTIVE

Go Deeper in Worship, Stewardship, Growth, and Evangelism. The Holy Spirit did not call us to passivity! He called us to war on our knees in prayer for a lost world that is without hope. We need to press in to go deeper in our walk with God.

God is calling us to repentance and renewal that we might GO DEEPER in our obedience to His call on our lives. Our GODtalks series will focus on the four areas of obedience. This convocation will help each of us prepare to go deeper with God and become more effective vessels for the glory of God.

We begin by repenting of our sins: disobedience, apathy, rebellion, hatred, gossip, lying, lust, substance abuse, sexual immorality, idolatry, covetousness, jealousy, theft, and pride. Biblical repentance is changing your mind about your sin-no longer is sin something to toy with, it is something to be forsaken, abhorred, and turned away from. We acknowledge how in sin we damaged and hurt ourselves, others, and God. Repentance guides us toward repairing broken relationships beginning with us and God and extending to the family of God.

WHY A CONVOCATION?

Several months ago, God laid this convocation on my heart. He told me this is how I want you to start off this year’s GODtalks series: A call of His people to repentance, to be sanctified by the Holy Spirit for the work of the Lord that is ahead of us.

Convocation: A large formal assembly of People.

This is a solemn assembly called for a season of fasting, prayer, reading of the scriptures, and repentance. The purpose of it is to turn our hearts back to God. Our nation is polluted with sin. It is difficult to watch the daily news as it appears evil is winning in government, education, corporate America, and in so many homes and lives around us.

The body of Christ is the Church. We are called to make a bold stand for God in this hour.

“Seek Good, and not evil that you may live and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you…Hate evil, and love good and establish justice in the gate.

(Amos 5:14-15)

When the world loses its moral compass, it is the Church of Jesus that arises to light the way!

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

(Matt. 5:14)

So many people are fearful as they see the darkness enveloping our world. The Church is a beacon of light that points to the cross of Christ and the empty tomb.

The gospel message declares,

“Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

(Jn. 3:16)

As Christians we hold the key to the Hope of the entire world. I believe God is calling us as a church to “seek the lost” (Lk. 19:10) to take ALL the Gospel to ALL the people. First, we need to become a people of the Spirit. We must humble ourselves before the Lord, repent, confess, be clean and renewed and filled with the Holy Spirit. We cannot do this great work without the Spirit of God. We need His anointing (Acts 10:38), we need His Power (Acts 1:8), we need His intercession in prayer through us to the Father (Acts 2:4), We need His guidance in all Truth, His Authority so we can break the chains of darkness over the people of our world (Jn. 16:13)

This manual is a guide for our Convocation. The invitation to participate comes through me but from the Lord. If you answer this call of God upon your life, you will exit this convocation a completely different person than you entered (I Samuel 10:6). As a church we will see the power of the gospel impact on our community! We will personally experience the revival God longs to rain down upon His church and we will reach the lost around us with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With all my heart I want to encourage you to say “YES” to full participation (body, mind, and spirit) in this convocation and to welcome the change God desires to bring to each of our hearts.
